FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW PSILINK PRICING: $9/MONTH UNLIMITED USE for DOS, HP 95LX and Windows
HERNDON, VA, June 18, 1993 -- Performance Systems International, Inc.
(PSI) today announced new pricing for its personal Internet access service,
PSILink. This service now starts at $9 per month (fixed rate) for unlimited
Internet electronic mail. PSI lowered its prices by $10 per month for all
levels of the service while adding several enhancements to the PSILink
software. PSILink provides dialup access to the Internet and connection
to the RAM Mobile Data wireless messaging network for the individual.
New PSILink pricing:
Service New Pricing
------- -----------
PSILink Lite - 1200-2400 baud $ 9/Month
PSILink Lite - 9600 baud $ 19/Month
PSILink Basic - 1200-2400 baud $ 19/Month
PSILink Basic - 9600 baud $ 29/Month
PSILink Lite provides unlimited electronic mail, while PSILink Basic
additionally provides USENET News access and anonymous file transfer
capability. Both services are available at either 2400 or 9600 baud
dialup speeds. PSI also provides the customer's software free of charge
through a number of distribution channels.
Version 3.5 of PSILink for DOS is available now via anonymous file transfer
on "ftp.psi.com", as well as the PSILink Bulletin Board Service for simple
dialup retrieval of the new software. Diskettes will be available on July 1.
Version 2.0 of PSILink for the HP 95LX palmtop computer will also be available
July 1. Both the DOS and HP 95LX version include several enhancements. These
enhancements, which PSI demonstrated at last month's Wireless Datacomm '93
conference in San Jose and this week's Electronic Mail Association conference
in Atlanta, offer a number of user benefits.
For the DOS version:
* Faster USENET News download;
* Elimination of a 75-article-per-newsgroup downloading
limitation; and
* The ability to sort newsgroups.
For the HP 95LX version:
* The wireless application is "connectionless"; the user does
not have to make a physical connection to the server to receive
messages-- it happens automatically;
* Users have the ability to change account information
temporarily during a session;
* A "News" folder to receive wire service news feeds is added;
* The size of incoming messages can be limited; and
* An application status screen is added.
PSILink Electronic Mail for Windows is also scheduled for release on July 1
and will support V.32bis (14,400 baud) in addition to 1200-9600 baud modems.
"PSILink is unmatched in giving users connection to RAM's wireless
messaging network as well as dialup access to the Internet," said Martin
Schoffstall, PSI's vice president and chief technical officer. "Offering
it at a low monthly rate of $9 should induce many users to see for
themselves how easy it is to have such comprehensive service."
PSI is the nation's leading provider of Internet access, both for
corporations and individuals, through a variety of dedicated leased-line,
dialup TCP/IP, Telnet and XRemote services, as well as through the PSILink
dialup package. It has been offering wireless messaging over the RAM Mobile
Data network since October, 1992.
